Chamber of Mining Engineers – Istanbul Branch

Founded in 1954, the Chamber of Mining Engineers is a professional organization with the nature of a public institution, defined in Article 135 of the Constitution. It is one of the founding chambers of the Union of Chambers of Turkish Engineers and Architects – TMMOB.

Defending the professional rights of mining engineers, following scientific and technical developments in the mining sector, contributing to them, contributing to mining policies in the country and organizing events for the professional development of engineers are among the main duties of the Chamber of Mining Engineers.

The Chamber of Mining Engineers has been serving as a locomotive in the scientific and technical field with the Symposiums and Congresses it has organized for the mining sector in Turkey for more than 50 years. He has conducted scientific and technical events, including 38 Turkey International Mining Congresses and Exhibitions, 10 International Drilling and Blasting Symposiums, 22 Turkey International Coal Congresses, 5 International Underground Excavations Symposiums and various workshops and courses.

Mining Engineering Department has been in service since 1991 within the body of Engineering Faculty was consists of Mining, Mining Mechanization and Technology, and Mineral Processing Divisions. The mining engineering department was entered 2000s in a great breakthrough using its modern and world class laboratory facilities.

The Department has reduced the quota of formal education to the level of its competitors in developed countries since 1999. It has continued its operations in a high momentum indigenizing practice-intense education and aiming to educate the students in world standards under favor of its young academic staff, contemporary education plan, course program, well-equipped laboratories. Moreover, the library and computer facilities were developed continuously in the purpose of giving modern education.
